In addition to the Dane County market, I have worked with buyers and sellers throughout southern Wisconsin. Growing up on a farm in Sauk County, I have a background in rural properties, including farms and vacant land.
I assisted a widowed seller, who had been married for over 50 years, and lived in her home and raised her family for more than 40 years, prepare her home for sale and help her transition into senior housing.
Because the home was in need of extensive repairs and general clean up prior to going on the market, and she was making major decisions by herself for the first time in her life, she was very much overwhelmed and emotionally attached.
Over the next several months I took control of all aspects of preparing the home for market. We ultimately listed the home and sold it for more than expected.
A recent email from her sums up why good agents do what they do: "I just watched four people getting snow off a car across the street—took them about 20 minutes before the car could be driven off. Why am I here and not on Ottawa Trail doing the same thing? As we have reminisced before, it's BECAUSE OF YOU! My gratitude does not fade!"
Why I'm an Agent
The genuine joy and pride shown by first time buyers and genuine relief and appreciation shown and expressed by senior buyers or sellers, who are downsizing or transitioning into rental housing is truly 'priceless'.
When I came to Madison in the early 70’s to study for a career in real estate, I did not foresee where my career would begin. Selling silos for an agricultural company put me through school and taught me many lessons I couldn’t find in a book. Over the years, other sales and management opportunities came along while I continued in real estate. In 2002, I made a full-time commitment to this career and never looked back.
Through it all, I learned that whether you take the product to the buyer, or take the buyer to the product, one constant remains. Offer clients more in value than you receive in compensation. This is what I believe is the blueprint for success. And this is what I try to offer the agents I am privileged to work with as part of the Stark Management Team. In my role, I provide guidance, value and support to agents of all experience levels. I am honored to help people find a rewarding career and excel in the process.
