When I came to Madison in the early 70’s to study for a career in real estate, I could not foresee how my career would evolve. Opportunities outside of real estate took me to professions and businesses I knew nothing about. It all started with selling silos to farmers and managing a dealer network in southern Wisconsin. From there, management and selling opportunities took me to Bobcat skid steer loaders and industrial John Deere equipment. While each new stop required learning a new product or products, several constants remained. First of all, I learned that the competition not only had a good product, and in some cases a better product, but in many cases were much cheaper to buy. I learned that more important than price, buyers valued service and follow-up. Buyers were often working seven days a week and expected the same from me. Fortunately, I learned these lessons very early in my career and incorporated them into my business. By focusing on customer service I became the market leader in sales for every product I sold.
In 2001 I made the decision to finally start my career in real estate. Through my life lessons, I learned that whether you take the product to the buyer, as I did in previous jobs, or take the buyer to the product, as agents do in real estate, consumers simply want honest and educated guidance from an agent who is available to answer questions on the consumer's schedule and not necessarily mine.
As with any product, if you offer clients more in value than you receive in compensation, everyone wins. That is the blueprint for success. And that is what I try to instill in the agents I am privileged to work with as part of the Stark Management Team. In my role, I provide guidance, value and support to agents of all experience levels. I am honored to help people find a rewarding career and excel in the process.
